FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: operating method of piston expansion machine involves the supply of main steam from steam supply line through inlet valve to the cylinder cavity. Main steam introduced to the cylinder cavity in operating stroke expands due to movement of piston from upper dead point to lower dead point. When expanded steam reaches the lower dead point, it leaves the closed outlet opening and is supplied to the steam tap-off. Outlet opening opens as soon as the piston is in the area of lower dead point and closes before the piston in displacement stroke reaches the upper dead point.
EFFECT: device operates with rather high efficiency of the cycle.
