DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSTIC TECHNIQUE FOR DIABETES MELLITUS AND ACETONEMIC VOMITING IN CHILDREN Russian patent published in 2012 - IPC G01N33/50

SUBSTANCE: it is started with specifying anamnestic data and clinical nature of ketoacidosis, conducting laboratory examination, evaluating blood glucose and urine acetone. The children showing: weight loss in past medical history, thirst, asthenia, toxicosis, acetone breath odour, ketonuria, glucose to 3.5 mmole/l, have malonic dialdehyde in blood serum. The concentration of malonic dialdehyde within the range of 0.03-0.3 mcmole/l enables diagnosing diabetes mellitus, and the concentration within the range of 0.4-1.48 mcmole/l shows acetonemic vomiting. The use of the method enables higher accuracy of early differential diagnosing of diabetes mellitus and acetonemic vomiting in the children with the clinical picture of ketoacidosis and hypoglycaemia with simplicity of implementation.

EFFECT: technique enables planning adequate individual preventive and curative interventions.
