SUBSTANCE: at first, history data, including occasionally acetone breath are presented; laboratory tests aim at determining blood glucose, cholesterol, and urinary acetone; abdominal ultrasound follows; cytochemical tests are used to measure peripheral blood succinate dehydrogenase and α-glycerophosphate dehydrogenase. If observing the following values in a child: acetone breath, hypoglycemia, acetonuria, hypercholesterolemia, reactive changes in the liver, observing succinate dehydrogenase more than 12.49 g/lymph. and α-glycerophosphate dehydrogenase more than 11.24 g/lymph., recurrent acetonemic vomiting in children is predicted.
EFFECT: higher accuracy of the early detection of paediatric patients threatened by developing recurrent acetonemic vomiting.
