FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method of identifying a source of emission of hazardous substances into the atmosphere involves formation of an air pollution source (APS) data base, measuring concentration of illegally emitted hazardous substances (HS), calculating the diffusion sector of the illegal emission, determining the location of an APS with an illegal level of emission of HS into the atmosphere, wherein the APS data base contains the ratio of concentration of main components of HS, characteristic for a specific APS; calculation of the diffusion sector of illegal emission is carried out based on concentration of two main components of HS in the emission cloud without burning (based on concentration of three components - with burning); the ratio of concentrations is compared and the ratio of concentrations of components of HS with a specific APS from the data base is determined.
EFFECT: simplifying and cutting time for detecting a source of illegal emission by comparing and determining match of concentration ratios of main components of hazardous substances in illegal emission with the concentration ratio of main components of hazardous substances, characteristic for a specific air pollution source from a data base of air pollution sources, lying in the calculated diffusion sector.
