FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: electronic chronometer has arrows which indicate time, a stepper motor, a drive control unit which transmits drive pulses to the stepper motor, a unit for checking movement of arrows, and a wait control unit which temporarily interrupts transmission of drive pulses from the drive control unit in order to switch to a waiting mode, when the unit for checking movement of arrows determines that the arrows have stopped, wherein transmission of drive pulses from the drive control unit and checking whether the arrows are moving by the unit for checking movement of arrows are respectively resumed after the wait control unit switches from the waiting mode.
EFFECT: design of an electronic chronometer fitted with a mechanism for detecting position of arrows and capable of preventing increase in power consumption when the arrows are not moving.
