METHOD FOR VESSEL'S WEIGHT AND HEIGHT OF CENTER OF GRAVITY DETERMINATION Russian patent published in 2012 - IPC B63B9/08 B63B39/00 G01G19/00

Abstract RU 2466900 C1

FIELD: transport.

SUBSTANCE: method for vessel's weight and height of center of gravity determination includes positioning the vessel out of aquatic area and her lifting using lifting facilities, subsequent heeling and simultaneous measurement of forces generated by each lifting facility, and then calculation of vessel's weight and height of center of gravity from measured data. In this process, a vessel is placed on keel-blocks in the gaps between which, symmetrically relative to diametral plane (DP) of vessel, lifting facilities are laid on building berth. These lifting facilities represent reservoirs made of flexible waterproof material with possibility to supply compressed air into them and to measure internal pressure in each reservoir. In the process of measurement, the reservoirs are filled with compressed air until vessel is raised above keel-blocks so much that contact between vessel bottom and keel-blocks would be excluded when the vessel is tilted by maximum allowable value of roll angle. Then, roll-ballast of known weight is laid on vessel's deck in the area of midlength section with shift from DP to one board which causes vessel to roll. After that, internal pressure, area of reservoir contact with bottom spot and ordinate of contact spot area center of gravity relative to vessel's DP is measured for each reservoir. Then, resultant of reaction forces of resilient elastic reservoirs, ordinate of application point of resultant of reaction forces of resilient elastic reservoirs relative to vessel's DP, and further, vessel's weight and height of center of gravity is calculated.

EFFECT: higher accuracy of the mentioned vessel's characteristics determination, lower labor consumption and reduction of their determination time.
