FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electric engineering and may be used for limitation of a short-circuit current of short circuit currents from low to ultrahigh voltages. A foldback current limiter (FCL) comprises a set of stands (1) with high permeability for joint limitation of a core for FCL. A coil (2) by DC for saturation of some stands (1) with high permeability surrounds the entire structure outside the closed space in the form of a jacket (3). The jacket (3) comprises a dielectric insulating medium (4). Coils (5) by AC for transfer of AC are wound into insulating frames (6) and are electrically connected with each other so that directions of a magnetic field developed by each coil (5) by AC in an appropriate core with high permeability, are opposite. There are also insulating barriers (7) between phases, which improve dielectric breakthrough properties of a dielectric medium.
EFFECT: improved cooling.
