SUBSTANCE: invention relates to wireless communication. A method is disclosed for populating a user equipment (UE) database with information measured by a femtocell, comprising steps of: taking radio frequency (RF) measurements by the femtocell in order to determine the location of the femtocell; connecting the UE with the femtocell; loading the RF measurements taken by the femtocell into the UE database. RF measurements of a set of UE to determine location of the femtocell can be sent to a server which averages the location of the femtocell. The averaged location is loaded into the UE database. In another version, RF measurements which correspond to neighbouring macrocells are stored when the UE receives the strongest signal from the femtocell. RF measurement of the phase shift of the macrocell is performed and the information on changes in the macrocell environment is loaded into the UE database.
EFFECT: saving UE power by improving the femtocell search procedure.
