FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely otorhinolaryngology. An area in the middle of patient's forehead is exposed to ultrasound, and sound lateralisation is evaluated. Ultrasound frequency is 100 kHz with intensity gain. Tonal threshold audiometry is used to detect better and poorly hearing ears. Ultrasound frequency is 100 kHz with intensity gain; stable sound lateralisation into a better hearing ear enables diagnosing retrocochlear impairment, while sound lateralisation variation with intensity gain towards a poorly hearing ear shows the presence of latent recruitment.
EFFECT: method extends the range of products for differential diagnosis of the level of acoustic analyser impairment accompanying sensorineural hearing loss.
