FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method comprises cleaning waste gases of sulfur dioxide by its absorption by N-alkyl pyrrolidone with water addition and subsequent distillation of sulfur dioxide in absorber regenerator. Absorption by N-methyl or N-ethyl pyrrolidone with water content of 0 to 15 wt % is performed at -20 to +18°C with addition of 2- pyrrolidone in amount of 0 to 30 wt % with subsequent distillation at 1.2-1.5 atm and 110-140°C. Absorbent regenerator top section forms zone of rectification of the mix of absorbent and water while absorber top section forms the zone of catching absorbent vapors by a part of distilled water.
EFFECT: reduced specific power consumption.
