FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: free-travel coupling comprises master and slave shafts, a helical pair, intermediate jamming elements. One part of the helical pair is arranged in the form of a master friction disc, which is placed onto splints of the master shaft. On the outer cylindrical surface of the master friction disc there are slots. The other part of the helical pair is arranged in the form of a shell that covers the master friction disc. Between the master friction disc and the shell there are balls placed, which enter slots of the disc and holes available in the hole. Inside the shell, apart from the master disc, there is a slave friction disc rigidly connected with a slave shaft. When the master shaft rotates in one direction, the friction disc displaces mainly in the axial direction to the contact with the surface of the slave friction disc for transfer of rotation to the slave shaft. In case the slave shaft rotates in a reverse direction, the master friction disc moves in the reverse direction, and the rotation is not given to the slave friction disc and the slave shaft.
EFFECT: enhanced reliability and durability of a mechanism.
