METHOD AND MEANS FOR REMOVAL OF SULPHUR PLUG Russian patent published in 2012 - IPC A61F11/00

Abstract RU 2468776 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: claimed group of inventions relates to field of medicine, in particular to otorhinolaryngology and clinical pharmacology, and can be applied in removal of sulphur plug from external auditory canal in case of external otitis and perforation of eardrum. Essence of method lies in straightening natural curve of external auditory canal. Plug is separated from upper posterior wall of external auditory canal. After formation of chink, patient's head is tilted to one side into position, in which selected ear remains above, central axis of auditory canal takes vertical position and passes through chink centre and upper posterior wall of auditory canal. After that, 4-5 drops of 2% lidocain hydrochloride solution, heated to +37°C are introduced into chink. Patient's head is returned into initial position. After sensation of foreign body disappears and sensation of warmth appears, into sulphur plug introduced is heated to +42°C medication, representing water solution which includes wt %: 0.3-0.5 hydrogen peroxide and 1.7-2.3 sodium hydrocarbonate, pricking around to complete plug infiltration. After that patient's head is tilted to one side with selected ear down and head is moved with periodic reciprocating movements in vertical position until liquid flows out of ear completely.

EFFECT: application of claimed group of inventions makes it possible to increase accuracy and safety due to primary infiltration of sulphur plug with diluting solution, ensuring optimal alkaline hydrolysis and physical destruction of plug by intra-tissue "boiling" and elimination of injury to hearing apparatus with washing water.
