FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: method involves drawing up a composite "mosaic" of satellite images of the entire analysed territory, transferring the obtained composite file to a MapInfo GIS, converting the three most informative channels of the spectral bands of the images to the colour standard RGB, converting the obtained colour composite image from the HDF format to the standard bitmap format TIF, and cartographic projection of the satellite images to a Gauss-Krueger metric projection, exporting data to the MapInfo GIS and visual analysis of the obtained data in the MapInfo GIS together with the up-to-date map of water features of the investigated zone.

EFFECT: reduced labour input and financial costs, as well as the possibility of predicting distribution of possible technogenic pollution in a river channel.
