FIELD: engines and pumps.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to making water-fuel emulsions to be used as alternative fuel in ICE, particularly, in diesel engines. Fuel is emulsified in two steps. At first step, mechanical mixing and dispersion with no emulsifying agent are performed. At second step, produced emulsion is additionally dispersed by pressure wave energy generated in injection of emulsion in cylinder. Note here that in every engine rpm, fuel consumption is controlled while water is added solely at definite rpm constricted by top line corresponding to engine operation according to external rpm characteristic, bottom line corresponding to engine operation according to partial characteristic in the area of effective power variation making 10% - 15% of rated magnitude. Also, it is restricted by two vertical lines limiting rpm range. Note also that one line corresponds to minimum rpm equal to 0.65-0.70 of the rating while second line corresponds to maximum rpm making 0.9-0.95 of rated rpm. Note that water is added stepwise as fuel is consumed. Water amount is increased in every step so that optimum composition of emulsion is ensured for given rpm.
