FIELD: physics, communications.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to multiport amplifiers for use in a satellite communication system and particularly to a method and a device for maintaining isolation in multiport amplifiers. The method of maintaining isolation in a multiport communication amplifier having microwave power amplifier units, input/output ports connected to the amplifier units by an input/output signal dividing network comprises steps of: providing the amplifier units with gain and phase adjusting means, providing the loop with feedback, injecting a pilot signal into the input signal dividing network and detecting said pilot signal at a preselected node, so that the feedback loop provides phase and gain adjustment signals depending on the value of the detected pilot signal, wherein a pilot signal null is generated in the preselected node and phase and gain alignment is carried out in a procedure involving introducing an iteration of phase increments into the phase adjustment means to identify a null value. A multiport amplifier operating according to the method given above is also provided.
EFFECT: high reliability of the multiport amplifier in Ku/Ka ranges by maintaining isolation between signals.
