SUBSTANCE: group of inventions provides a method and an apparatus for transmitting test signals to a multiport amplifier (MPA), and a method, an apparatus and a system for determining parameter settings for a MPA. Test signals are transmitted to the MPA to provide an output signal indicating a parameter setting for the MPA, wherein the method involves providing a test signal directly to a point in the assembly of a multiport amplifier between the output of the input circuit and the input of the amplifier module. The method of determining parameter settings for an assembly of a multiport amplifier involves receiving first and second output signals associated with the output of the assembly of the multiport amplifier, wherein the first output signal corresponds to a first path of the signal through the assembly of the multiport amplifier, and the second output signal corresponds to a second path of the signal through the assembly of the multiport amplifier, and determining parameter settings based on the first and second output signals.

EFFECT: enabling measurement of a test signal at any MPA output.
