FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to mining, particularly, to X-ray methods of concentration, and may be used in separation of diamond-bearing rocks. Proposed method comprises conveying diamond bearing rock particle monolayer flow, radiating said rock by X-rays, registering radiation intensity distribution, defining diamond characteristic and separating diamonds by value of said characteristic. Rock is irradiated by two narrow consistently-located monochromatic different-energy beams. Beam radiation intensity distribution is registered by two consistently-located linear X-ray-sensitive detectors. Each said detectors registers one radiation beam while peak of spectral sensitive of each detector equals radiation beam energy. Diamond characteristic used represents quotient of natural logarithm of relationship between intensity of radiation passed through diamond and that passed by diamond and any other rock particle by natural logarithm of relationship between intensity of radiation passed by the same diamond and any other rock particle of another radiation beam.

EFFECT: higher efficiency of separation.
