SUBSTANCE: invention is intended for separation of mineral raw materials. The substance of the invention lies in the fact that the values ​​of the effective energy of X-ray radiation of high and low energy levels are chosen in such a way that they change the nature of the absorption of primary X-ray radiation by diamond at high and low levels of the energy range, relative to the original rock hosting the diamond: at a low level of radiation energy, the attenuation coefficient radiation passed through the diamond μdia and the original host rock µpore has the following relationship μdiarock, that is, diamonds attenuate radiation less than the original host rock, and at a high energy level, on the contrary, diamonds attenuate the primary radiation more than the original host rock μdiarock.

EFFECT: providing the possibility of reliable detection of both open and hidden diamonds with a size of 1 mm or more in kimberlite using matrix detectors, both in a static mode and when moving the studied rock mass relative to the matrix detector at a speed of up to 500 m/s in the case of studying a single sample, the size of which does not exceed the size of the matrix detector.
