FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: method involves obtaining a three-dimensional image of a surface in form of a curve of vertical coordinates of points of the surface versus their horizontal coordinates. Radon transform is performed for said curve to obtain a sample of the surface in Radonian space. Further, the sample of the surface undergoes wavelet filtration in Radonian space with a given threshold condition which corresponds to the selected linearly structured feature. Inverse Radon transform is performed for the filtered sample of the surface to obtain a three-dimensional image, mainly containing the selected linearly structured feature.

EFFECT: possibility of selecting linearly structured features of surface relief regardless of the nature of their location.
