SUBSTANCE: in a known method for radar scanning of space, based on allocating target detection and resolving operations between radar sets RLS1, RLS2, …, RLSn with wavelength λ1>λ2>…>λn, respectively, where n>2, wherein space scanning and primary detection of targets is carried out by RLS1 and final resolution of targets detected by RLS1 is carried out by RLSn; according to the invention, RLSk, k=1, n-1, estimate the radar cross section of the detected target and information on that target is transmitted from RLSm with the shortest wavelength m=(k+1), …, n, which is capable of detecting the target with the required probability. Two versions of radar sets realising the disclosed method are provided.
EFFECT: shorter time for switching from a radar set with the longest wavelength to a radar set with the shortest wavelength for targets with a large radar cross section, which enables to increase the range for resolving such targets.
