FIELD: radiolocation, development of promising radars or their updating. SUBSTANCE: method of radar acquisition and tracking of objects is based on use of secondary radar. Objects are in addition acquired and recognized by means of primary radar. Coordinates of object measured by secondary and primary radars are compared, corrections are computed, information obtained by secondary radar is supplemented with information obtained by primary radar alone and tracking is carried out with the help of secondary radar. When needed, operations with enlistment of primary radar are repeated. If coordinates of tracked object deviate from extrapolated value by more than threshold value or if ambiguity in tracking emerges object is followed up with the aid of primary radar with cancellation of reception of responses or prior to transmission of information to user and in those directions in which object is detected by secondary radar alone energy consumption by primary radar increase. In process of acquisition and tracking of object by means of secondary radar operational interrogation signals are determined and formed. This process of determination and formation of operational interrogation signals is based on re- radiation of flow of signals from controlled zone to ground center, on extraction of interrogation signal by ground radar and on radiation of it in analyzed direction. EFFECT: reduced energy consumption by radar for acquisition and tracking of objects, increased reliability of detection of objects. 7 cl
