FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to treatment of electrolyte and may be used for feeding, recovery and adjustment of electrolyte parameters. Proposed method comprises neutralising toxic compounds of chromium in electrolyte whereat electrolyte hydrogen ion exponent is reduced to pH1 corresponding to acid medium and, thereafter, electrolyte is mixed. During second stage, hydrogen ion exponent is kept equal to pH1 to inject definite portion of reagent to neutralise toxic chromium compound. Now, redox potential variation is controlled. If said potential increases reagent of injected again to repeat the process unless said potential does not very after injection of reagent, or decreases for sufficiently long period. At third stage, hydrogen ion exponent is increases to preset level pH2 by adding alkali to electrolyte.

EFFECT: non-polluting process, neutralisation of hexavalent chromium.
