FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: proposed method comprises forming ultra disperse substance layer on material surface produced by subjecting material of isolated electrodes to pulse discharge energy. Said discharge is initiated between two electrodes fed with electromagnetic power to make discharge displace over electrode surface. Density of power acting on said surface makes 10 to 5·103 J/cm2. Processing if carried out in gas at 101 to 106 Pa, while surface of processed material is located at 1 to 50 cm from electrode surface. Proposed device comprises set of electrodes, electrodes isolation system, discharge initiation system, system of current leads connecting electrodes to electromagnetic power source, and processed material attachments. Said ultra disperse substance layer on material surface increase adhesion of coatings to surfaces of various materials.

EFFECT: provision of required characteristics of materials, for example, metals, alloys, semiconductors, and alloys.
