FIELD: information technology.
SUBSTANCE: image display device can accordingly control luminous efficacy of light-emitting diodes of multiple colours which emit light through a colour filter to a display unit. The display device acquires luminous efficacy for a frame of a RGB image signal, calculates the value of light leakage and then detects if a halo effect can occur or not. If it is determined that the halo effect will occur, luminous efficacy of light-emitting diodes connected in the liquid crystal display device is controlled in order to make the light from the light-emitting diodes closer to white light.
EFFECT: preventing deterioration of image quality due to blurring as a result of the halo effect caused by leakage of light passing through an unmatched light filter from a light-emitting diode.
