SUBSTANCE: image display device has a set of frames on a display panel, colour filters of a set of colours, a set of light sources which emit light whose colour matches the light filters, respectively. The display device also has a detection means for detecting, for the corresponding image frames, the halo effect arising on the display panel as a result of leakage of light flux from the light source whose colour differs from the colour of the corresponding colour filter. Furthermore, the display device has a control means which controls emission coefficients of light sources in order to bring the colour of light closer to white by reducing colour saturation when the detection means detects the halo effect in a set of successive frames.
EFFECT: high initial image quality, low power consumption of the image display device.
