SUBSTANCE: in the optical disc, a track is divided into a plurality of units and each unit comprises L fragments of subunits. M-bit first digital information is recorded on each subunit, which indicates the unit address of a unit, including each subunit, and N-bit second digital information is also recorded, which allows presentation of a numerical value which is greater than or equal to L. Where the unit address is less than a threshold value, the second digital information is a value which indicates a number pre-allocated to each subunit. Where the value of the unit address is greater than or equal to the threshold value, the second digital information is a value other than the value which indicates the number pre-allocated to each subunit. Alternatively, where the value of the unit address is greater than or equal to the threshold value, the second digital information is a value which indicates a number pre-allocated to each subunit, while where the value of the unit address is less than the threshold value, the second digital information is a value other than the value which indicates a number pre-allocated to each subunit.

EFFECT: providing a format for addressing an optical disc of more than 16,7 GB, while maintaining compatibility with the format of ordinary discs.
