SUBSTANCE: relative gradients of magnetic field strength and pressure are determined; their difference is determined and a search procedure is performed to determine the minimum of the absolute value of that difference by varying the length, the inner and outer diameters of the solenoid, gas pressure inside the accelerator, ambient gas pressure, the shape, dimensions of the accelerator nozzle and its position on the axis of the solenoid, and by simultaneously varying the length, the inner and outer diameters, gas pressure inside the accelerator, ambient gas pressure, the shape, dimensions of the accelerator nozzle and its position on the axis of the solenoid, based on a global extremum search algorithm.
EFFECT: preliminary provision of optimum parameters of a plasma accelerator during its design.
