SUBSTANCE: invention relates to food and medical industry and may be used for production of a high-quality biologically active additive applied as food to prevent atherosclerosis development or for manufacture of functional food products. The biologically active food additive is represented by phyto tea mixture of milled medicinal plant raw materials and includes the following ingredients: dioscorea caucasica roots, ground burnut herb, cow clover flowers, white mistletoe shoots, blackberry leaves, blackcurrant leaves, origanum herb, caraway fruits at a weight ratio of 2:2:2:2:4:4:2:1 respectively.

EFFECT: invention allows to produce a new biologically active food additive that positively affects the total organism condition, improves rheological properties of blood, has expressed hypolipidemic effect and is effective remedy to prevent atherosclerosis development.
