FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to coalescent medium for water-hydrocarbon emulsion separation and may be used at transport, power generation, fuel storage, oil production, and treatment of effluents. Coalescent medium comprises sheet for contact with emulsion consisting of natural fibers, cellulose fibers, natural fiber-based fibers and cellulose fiber-based fibers, fibrillated fibers with high surface area, synthetic materials increasing surface area, glass microfibers and nanoceramic functional fibers, and component selected from the group including additives for dry and wet strengthening. Fibrous components make about 70% of the medium. Said medium is made up of single self-bearing layer of uniformly distributed composition. Besides, it may be composed of multilayer structure.

EFFECT: higher separation efficiency.
