FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method involves a process of constructing a vinyl fragment via liquid-phase thermal dehydration of 2-(4-aminophenyl)ethanol, in the presence of a solid inorganic dehydrating agent of an alkaline reaction and removing the end product from the reaction zone by distillation. Dehydration is carried out at 220-260°C and pressure of 10-15 mm Hg, the dehydrating agent used being a ground alkali metal hydroxide in amount of 100-180 mol % with respect to 2-(4-aminophenyl)ethanol. Before separating the end product from the distillate, the starting 2-(4-aminophenyl)ethanol is removed first.
EFFECT: method increases output of the end product and simplifies the process.
