FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing 4-aminostyrene from 4-nitrostyrene. The method involves reducing 4-nitrostyrene, which is in a solution, at 15-50°C while stirring in a solvent medium for 1-15 minutes, wherein the reducing agent used is a dithionite of an alkali metal in amount of 500-1000 mol % with respect to 4-nitrostyrene, which is added in a single step to a solution of 4-nitrostyrene; after reduction, the end product is separated via transfer thereof into the volume of an organic liquid at 10-50°C, which does not dissolve inorganic products, after which the liquid is removed in a vacuum.
EFFECT: method enables to obtain a product with high degree of purity without using catalysts.
