FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: at least two sections are selected near a secured facility. Mutually perpendicular directions of measurement are set according to cardinal points (north-south and west-east). On the section between measurement points specific electric resistance is measured in steps. The difference of potentials is measured between two points of earth surface. The reduced value of the gradient is calculated in accordance with ν the formula: where K - quantity of measurements of specific electric resistance between areas of comparison electrodes installation; V - measured difference of potentials between comparison electrodes, V; ρ1 - specific resistance of soil in i point, Ohm·m. Applying v, vector diagrams are built in each quadrant on the area map with orientation of direction of performed measurements according to cardinal points. By the point of crossing of vector continuation, location of a source of stray current is detected.
EFFECT: higher accuracy of stray current source location detection.
