SUBSTANCE: device for processing banknotes has a feed hopper lying in the top part of the device and equipped with a mechanism for sheet-by-sheet feeding of banknotes, a stacker hopper lying in the bottom part of the device and equipped with a stacking wheel, a channel for moving banknotes from the sheet-by-sheet feeding mechanism to the stacker hopper, having conveyor elements and guide surfaces, at least one sensor for measuring the physical characteristic of a banknote fitted in the channel, which is configured to separate the top and bottom parts by relative rotary movement about an opening axis such that the path of movement of banknotes in the channel lies between the top and bottom parts, the opening axis coincides with the axis of rotation of the stacking wheel.
EFFECT: more compact design of the device.
