FIELD: information technologies.
SUBSTANCE: reduction of noise and time interference (for instance, strolling LEDs) on a display system with double modulation is achieved by application of time filtration to rear modulation signals of video frame sequence. Speeds of flashing and blackout are calculated for a current frame in a video. If a threshold value of flashing speed is exceeded, brightness of background lighting is limited with a predetermined speed of flashing. If a threshold value of blackout is exceeded, brightness of background lighting is limited with a predetermined speed of blackout. Limitations are applied, for instance, on an element-by-element basis. In case of a scene replacement event, limitations shall not be applied. A direct modulation signal is calculated, taking into account any applied limitations of background lighting.
EFFECT: reduced noise arising in systems of display of a wider dynamic range.
