SUBSTANCE: invention relates to computer engineering. Method of encoding high dynamic range video data and additional data comprising at least one change time instant, indicating a change in time of a characteristic luminance of video data, which characteristic luminance summarises a set of luminances of pixels in an image of the video data, method comprising steps of generating on basis of video data descriptive data of characteristic luminance variation of video, descriptive data comprising at least one change time instant, encoding and outputting descriptive data; encoding in additional data at least one indication of allowed reprocessing strategies of at least the luminances of pixels of video data by an apparatus, using the video data and additional data to obtain high dynamic range luminances; encoding and outputting additional data comprising descriptive data.
EFFECT: technical result is improved efficiency of processing and/or reproducing video in receiving device.
