FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of obtaining water-soluble derivatives of fullerenols - mixed fullerenols. Water-soluble mixed fellerenols can be applied in many spheres, in particular in medicine, pharmacology, cosmetology, machine-building, construction and other branches of science and technplogy. Method lies in interaction of fullerene soot, obtained by method of electric arc evaporation of graphite in helium atmosphere, with hydroxyl donor under conditions of hydroxylation reaction intensification. Hydroxyl donor can be represented by water solution of alkali NaOH or KOH with concentration from 0.3 to 20 wt % and in ratio with fullerene soot (20÷300):1 mg/g. Hydroxylation reaction intensification is carried out with application of catalyst - water solution of tetrabutyl ammonium hydroxide with concentration 5÷20 wt % and in volume ratio with alkali solution 1:(50÷400).
EFFECT: creation of more low-conversion and therefore cheaper method of obtaining fullerenols.
