FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of continuous pelletising of expandable thermoplastic polymers and related product. Polymer composition containing second melted polymer material, inorganic and organic additives and foaming system are added into first flow of melted aromatic vinyl polymer. Produced composition is pelletised in cutting chamber of thermoplastic polymer hot pelletiser by forcing said polymer through extrusion head and cooling it by fluid jet sprayed by nozzles arranged behind cutting blades. Gas flow is fed into pelletiser to prevent its flooding. Produced pellets feature form-factor varying from 0.6 to 0.99 and are suitable for making foamed articles with density lower and or equal to 50 g/l and content of closed cells equal to 60% in compliance with requirements of ASTM D-2856.
EFFECT: better foaming property and mouldability.
