FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: introduction of polymer composition, which contains second melted polymer material and foaming system, into flow of melted vinyl aromatic polymer, which is at temperature in the range from critical temperature of foaming system minus 25 to critical temperature of foaming system plus 25. Obtained composition is granulated in cutting chamber of device for hot granulation of thermoplastic polymers by passing through extrusion head, cooled by liquid jet from nozzles, located behind set of knives. Gas flow, preventing its flooding, is supplied into granulation chamber. Obtained granules are characterised by shape coefficient in the range from 0.6 to 0.99 and are suitable for obtaining foamed products with density, lower or equal 50 g/l, and level of content of closed cells, equal to at least 60%, according to the document ASTM D-2856.

EFFECT: granules are characterised by good foamability and mouldability.
