SUBSTANCE: in a light source unit, a lighting device, in a display device and in a television set, image quality does not deteriorate. The light source unit includes several light-conducting elements. Light-conducting elements are arranged in the first direction and the second direction, which is substantially perpendicular to the first direction. Each light-conducting element is formed as flat in shape and includes a section of light output and a light-conducting section. Light entering the light-conducting element, exits from the light output section, and the light-conducting section conducts light entering the light-conducting element, towards the other section of light output. Protruding sections 40 are formed on sections of side ends facing each other in light-conducting elements, which are located next to each other in the second direction. Each of protruding sections stretches from the appropriate section of the side end of the light-conducting element, so that they are matched with or covered by each other in direction away from the front side to the rear side. Light-conducting elements are arranged in the first direction so that the light output section in one light-conducting element covers the light-conducting section of the other light-conducting element on the front side. Light-conducting elements are arranged in the second direction so that protruding sections cover each other in direction from the front side to the rear side.
