FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: device has a magnification lens system which is formed by two lenses (10, 12), arranged in series, with coinciding foci on the path of the laser beam, and a camera (74) lying behind said lenses at the focus of the last lens (12). The camera has an electronic image sensor (14) which generates an electronic image of the laser beam whose cross-section is magnified by the lenses. The position of the lenses (10, 12) together with the camera (74) can be adjusted along the path of the beam relative the base point (46) of the measuring device in order to localise focal constriction of the laser beam and determine the diametrical profile of the laser beam. The measuring device additionally has an adapter (42) which covers the beam path and serves to attach the measuring device to the laser system which generates the laser beam. The adapter (42) forms a support surface (46) for the laser system which protrudes in the direction of the axis (16) of the laser beam.
EFFECT: possibility of mechanical interfacing with laser systems having different mechanical or optical parameters.
