FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: surface of a plate made of porous optical material is superimposed with the plane of a formed laser beam with radiation wavelength in the region of maximum absorption of the material of the plane. The plate is moved relative the laser beam until the end of formation of the waveguide and then heat treated in a furnace at temperature not lower than 820°C and not higher than 920°C for 15-30 minutes.
EFFECT: improved optical and operational characteristics of the planar waveguide while keeping said characteristics constant over time.
