SUBSTANCE: system and method to be applied in the rolling device containing multiple bearing units; besides, each unit includes elements comprising guides (12, 18) and sets (20) of pads of rolling mill rolls. RFI system uses RFI marks on each of the variety of elements so that monitoring of characteristics or the whole bearing unit, or its individual elements, can be observed and/or performed. Readout device for RFI mark can be built into rolling mill (10) or can include portable devices. As per the first design version, scanning of RFI mark is performed both at the rolling mill, and at some remote point, to which is the bearing unit is supplied. Unique combination of load-carrying elements can be assembled, identified and subject to monitoring during subsequent rolling processes, thus allowing the operator of the rolling mill to perform the adjustment to improve the rolled product quality.
EFFECT: providing an optimised operating process of expensive equipment.
