FIELD: agriculture.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of agriculture, in particular, to gardening. In the method, in the pollen of varieties under study, exposed over calcium chloride to constant weight, the content of water-soluble substances is determined. A variety which pollen contains more water-soluble substances is considered the best pollinator. The most preferable pollinators are the varieties of apple tree which pollen contains more water-soluble substances than 50% of its dry weight.
EFFECT: method enables to accelerate and simplify the accurate selection of compatible combinations of apple tree varieties at cross-pollination.
