METHOD OF RESTORING ARM MOVEMENTS IN PATIENTS WITH UPPER PARALYSES AND PARESES Russian patent published in 2013 - IPC A61N1/32

Abstract RU 2475283 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to physiotherapy, neurology. Method includes electric stimulation of spinal cord through epidural of epicutaneous electrodes. First, basic electric stimulation with placement of cathode and anode in projection of cervical intumescence of spinal cord at the level of C5-Th1 vertebrae is performed. After that, selective electric stimulation with placement of anode on belly of paretic muscle and cathode - at the level of segments of cervical intumescence segments which innervate it. In case of reduced muscle tone impact with frequency 0.5-2 Hz is carried out. In case of increased muscle tone impact with frequency 3 Hz is performed with periodic potentiation with frequencies 3-7-12 Hz.

EFFECT: method is used for restoration of arm movements in case of paralyses of different etiology and level of nervous system affection: caused by trauma of cervical spine, spine deformations or instability, inflammatory diseases of spine, defects of development, consequences of stroke and infantile cerebral palsy due to impact on motorneurons of cervical intumescence of spinal cord and arm muscles, which are innervated by them.
