FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to powder metallurgy. Batch mixes of layers are prepared separately to fill outer layer blend in cavity between female die and core. Sand frame is placed atop female die. Note here that sand frame surface and core top end are located in one plane. Outer layer is compacted by tubular male die by amount Δh = Δhout + Δt'low , where Δhout is amount of outer layer compaction (height of sand frame); Δh'low is female die down travel onto lower outer male die. Sand frame and tubular upper female die are removed to extract the core. Inner layer blends are filled in cavity formed by extracted core to compact outer layer and outer and inner layer in floating female die are additionally compacted. Produced billet is heated and additionally compacted.
EFFECT: differentiated compaction, billet equal height, identical relative hardness of inner and outer layers.
