FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: concentration of wear products of friction members in the oil is determined and technical diagnosis of the degree of wear of the friction members is carried out in accordance with the condemning limit of content of wear products in oil of diesel locomotive engines. Initial data are used in form of results of spectral analysis and distance travelled by the diesel locomotive between days when samples were collected for spectral analysis. Calculations are carried out to determine concentration B(Ln) of metals in the oil by an accrued total in the diesel oil depending on the distance travelled by the diesel locomotive between oil sampling for spectral analysis using the formula: where Cm is concentration of any metal in the oil, g/t of oil; Cm-1 is concentration of any metal in the oil during the previous spectral analysis, g/t of oil; Lm is the distance travelled by a section of the diesel locomotive by an accrued total, thousand km; Lm-1 is the distance travelled by the diesel locomotive by an accrued total during the previous spectral analysis, thousand km. Values for all metals are calculated using the formula relative the maximum value of one of the analysed metals, which enables to plot, for each metal, curves of the adjusted values of its entry into the oil versus the distance travelled by the diesel locomotive by an accrued total. The rate of wear of friction members and units of the diesel engine are determined from the inclination to the horizontal axis of lines of the obtained curves.

EFFECT: high quality of diagnosing wear of friction members of diesel engines or emergency condition thereof.
