METHOD FOR LUBRICATED ITEMS WEAR MONITORING IN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINES Russian patent published in 2009 - IPC G01M13/02 G01N3/56

Abstract RU 2343443 C1

FIELD: motors and pumps.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to monitoring methods for lubricated items wear degree in internal combustion engines. According to the invention, oil samples for spectrum analysis are taken from the engine oil system during engine operation. Wear debris concentration in oil sample is defined by spectrum analysis method. Oil is added into the engine oil system. Wear rate of lubricated items is monitored taking into account definite concentrations by the weight value of deposited in oil wear debris. Selected oil samples are divided into the previous and present sample with engine run cycle between them. Prior to the previous and present sampling, oil weight in oil system is measured. Before the present sample is taken, oil is added to the oil system to the level when oil weight is equal to the value when the previous sample was taken. Weight of added to the oil system oil is measured and wear rate of lubricated engine items is monitored by wear debris weight value deposited in oil during engine operation within the previous and present oil sampling period. Based on dependence, weight of wear debris deposited in oil during engine operation within the previous and present oil sampling period is defined.

EFFECT: simplification of wear rate monitoring, increased accuracy and reliability of test results.
