FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: spectrometer has a frequency-tunable source of p-polarised monochromatic radiation, an element for converting source radiation to surface plasmons (SP), a solid-state conducting sample with a plane surface, a photodetector, an information processing device and an opaque screen placed perpendicular to the SP path, wherein the edge of the screen facing the flat surface of the sample lies at a distance ranging from 5 λ to 20λ, (where λ is the radiation wavelength in the medium surrounding the sample) from said surface. The photodetector is placed in the SP field on a movable platform which moves parallel to the surface along the SP path and is connected to the information processing device.
EFFECT: simple design and shorter measurement time.
