FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: obtaining reservoir characteristics during imaging electromagnetic survey involves standardising data on measured voltages for the emitter, sorting the standardised voltage data into common reception point profiles, performing dense re-discretisation of the positions of the emitters using common positions for the common reception point profiles, performing coarse re-discretisation of data at discrete positions of the emitters, constructing an initial model - for inverting, weighting data with a multiplier, converting the standardised voltage data into ratios, calculating specific conductivity images using a radio inversion technique and checking whether the inversion tallies, and the image is geologically acceptable. The image can then be displayed.
EFFECT: reducing distortions caused by surface irregularities, eliminating the effect of the casing column.
