FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in chemical engineering. The method of producing powdered bismuth (III) oxide involves oxidation of bismuth with oxygen in a revolving reactor with a controlled atmosphere. Molten bismuth is oxidised with oxygen to obtain an oxide mixture with not more than 93 wt % bismuth content. The oxide mixture is then oxidised in a fixed bed at temperature not higher than 700°C.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain fine, highly pure powder of stoichiometric bismuth (III) oxide in a shorter period of time and increases efficiency of the revolving reactor.
